Building on the success of our Olympia, WA based 2002-2006 festivals, Homo a Go Go is proud to announce the dates and location of their 2009 festival. Homo a Go Go 2009 is slated for August 13-16 in San Francisco, CA at SOMArts Cultural Center (934 Brannan St.) This 4 day event is a festival of queer music, film, art, performance and activism. Homo a Go Go recently relocated to San Francisco, and is a grassroots event that draws participants and artists from all over the world. The festival is widely known for creating a unique atmosphere of community, culture and activism. Homo a Go Go has been dubbed, “the ultimate Gaycation,” and described as, “life changing,” by festival attendees.
While music is the focal point of the festival, (with 42 musical acts) the schedule also includes film screenings of over 60 films, a fashion show featuring the work of 12 independent designers, a 3-day craft fair featuring up to 90 DIY/independent businesses and community organizations, 15 multi-media/theatrical/spoken word performers, 27 visual artists and 10 workshops focusing on education and activism. Trans/Giving invites all trans*, genderqueer, and intersex filmmakers to submit your films to our Second Annual Trans/Giving Film Festival!
As the lives of gender variant people have gained greater visibility in the past several years, our images have been splashed across primetime and major motion pictures. And even as we gain footing as subjects in mainstream media, our own creative voices still struggle to be heard. And yet we know the depth of talent that our community has to offer as filmmakers whose work we are thrilled to be showcasing with this evening of film!
Whether you’re dealing with gender-specific issues or not, we will be screen many diverse works made by trans, genderqueer, and/or intersex artists, including comedy, dramedy, drama, experimental, animation, and more!
* we mean trans as in transgender, transsexual, transvestite, as in crossdressers, drag kings and queens, studs, and all those who identify as contributing members of gender fabulousness. *

SANT1 RELEASES THE STIMULUS PACKAGE, SOFT RELEASE PARTY TONIGHT @ ENORMOUS ROOM 9PM!!
This dude out of Boston has some serious skills. He is also a huge motivational inspiration for the music culture and the youth music culture in Boston's inner city. He works with the inner city music association, ZUMIX, which teaches kids music, recording, running their own radio station, beat making, vocals, performance and more, in order to keep them off of the streets.
